Work with us

Have someone walk it through with you.

The checklists are free and always will be. But if you would rather not do it alone — or you are looking after someone whose needs are complicated — a virtual readiness audit gets it done in one sitting, wherever you live.

What happens

How an audit works.

  1. You tell us about your household

Who lives there, what they need, what worries you most. Send a note through the contact form and we will reply within one business day with times and a short questionnaire.

  2. We walk through your home together, on video

You carry the phone. Water, food, power, medical equipment, exits, storage, and hazards. No judgment about where you are starting from — most people are starting from zero, and that is fine.

  3. You get a written plan

Within three days: what you already have, what to get first, what can wait, and where to put it. Priced at your budget, not a catalog's.

  4. We check in at 30 days

One email to see what got done and answer whatever came up. Preparedness is a habit, not a purchase.

Who it helps most

Built for the households a checklist cannot cover.

Anyone can book an audit. It earns its keep when the situation is complicated and a generic list falls short.

  • Caregivers looking after a parent, partner, or child whose needs a one-size list ignores.
  • Medical equipment users — oxygen, CPAP, a nebulizer, dialysis, insulin — where a power outage is a risk, not an inconvenience.
  • Seniors, and anyone managing mobility, vision, or hearing needs, who needs a plan and a route they can actually use.
  • Disabled and neurodivergent households, where comfort, routine, and sensory needs are part of the plan, not an afterthought.
  • Anyone who feels stuck after reading the free guides and would rather start with a person than a page.
Who you are working with

A trained neighbor, not a call center.

Your audit is led by our CERT-certified lead, trained through both the Oakland and Albany Community Emergency Response Team programs, with nearly thirty years of work in nonprofits and food security — a career spent getting essential things to the people the system tends to miss.

We are a small operation on purpose. No warehouse, no sales team, no fear-mongering — just an honest ninety minutes, a written plan, and recommendations with a budget option in every category. Based in Oakland, working with households across the East Bay and anywhere a video call reaches.

Also available

Community workshops, online.

Faith communities, tenant associations, senior centers, schools, and nonprofits. We run practical preparedness sessions over video, sized for your group and priced for your budget — including free for under-resourced communities.

Before you book

Questions people ask first.

What if I am starting from nothing?

Most people are, and that is exactly the right time to book. There is no judgment about where you begin — the whole point is to leave you with a first step and a plan, not a lecture.

Do you need to see inside my whole home?

Only what you are comfortable showing on camera. You hold the phone and set the pace. We look at the spots that matter for your plan — water and food storage, power, medical equipment, exits, and where your shutoffs are.

Do you try to sell me products?

No. Your written plan comes with a budget option in every category, and you buy whatever you like, wherever you like. Some links on the site are Amazon affiliate links, disclosed as such — they are never a condition of the plan.

Do you work outside the Bay Area?

Yes. The audit is fully virtual, so we can work with you anywhere over video. We are based in Oakland and work with plenty of households across the East Bay, but your zip code does not matter.

How do I book and pay?

Send a note through the contact form and we reply within one business day with available times, a short questionnaire, and how to pay. No account, no phone tree.
