Stay Ready was built on a simple belief: that feeling safe in an emergency shouldn't depend on your age, ability, language, or income.
Most emergency preparedness tools are built for a default person — able-bodied, without dependents, with unlimited resources. But that's not most of us. Real households include infants who need formula when the power goes out. Elders with mobility challenges who can't navigate a generic evacuation plan. Neurodivergent family members who need sensory comfort during overwhelming chaos. Pets who are family. People managing medical equipment that simply cannot be unplugged.
Stay Ready was created to acknowledge those differences — not as afterthoughts, but as the starting point. Every household is different. Every kit should be too. Our goal is to make sure that when disaster strikes, everyone has what they need to survive and stay safe, regardless of their abilities, budget, or circumstances.
We believe preparedness is an act of love — for yourself, your family, and your community.
"Preparedness is not one-size-fits-all. It never was. We're here to change that."
Standard emergency preparedness resources are rarely designed with these communities in mind. Stay Ready puts them at the center — because that's where they belong.
Stay Ready was built by a CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) certified preparedness advocate trained through Oakland and Albany programs. Every recommendation is grounded in real emergency response training and lived Bay Area experience — not just product research.
Answer a few questions about your household and we'll build a personalized emergency kit with budget, mid-range, and premium options for every item.
Stay Ready builds your personalized emergency supply kit based on your household's real needs — every item shown at three price points, no one left out.
We'll calculate water, food, and supply quantities for your full household.
Select all that apply. We'll add tailored items and resources to your kit.
Here's your kit, in priority order. Start at the top of each category and add what you need as you go — no rush, and no need to grab something from every line. Anything tagged Plan is something you probably already have, so just tick it off. You’ve got this. 💛
A little tip: keep your supplies somewhere easy to reach, and labeled bins make grabbing a whole category simple.
Not sure where to start, or would you rather we put a kit together for you? We'll happily walk you through it — or build one for your household. It's completely free — just reach out.

Honest answers to the things people ask most — about cost, what to buy, and where to start.
Absolutely not. The builder is a readiness check, not a shopping cart. Many things — food, a can opener, basic medicines — you likely already have. Check those off. Buy only the gear you're actually missing, starting with the Basic option, and build over time. One item this week beats a perfect kit you never finish.
Less than most people think. There's a real $0 foundation — knowing your risks, signing up for county alerts, walking your evacuation route. A solid starter set of gear runs roughly $50–$150 spread over weeks. Every item in our builder has a genuine Basic option.
Every household — and especially the ones standard guides forget. Renters, people with disabilities, elders, families with children, neurodivergent folks, medical-equipment users, and budget-conscious and under-resourced communities. If you've felt left out of generic checklists, this was built for you.
Shelter in place when there's no evacuation order, your home is safe, and you have 72+ hours of supplies. Evacuate immediately when an order is issued, or when fire, flood, gas, or heavy smoke makes staying dangerous. Your go-bag is what makes leaving fast and calm.
Mostly things you already have — packed together and ready to grab. Water and food for the first day, a flashlight, first-aid, medications, copies of documents, cash in small bills, a change of clothes, and comfort items. In the builder, just tap 🎒 on anything to add it to your go-bag list.
Yes. We're part of the Amazon Associates program, so we may earn a small commission when you buy through our links — at no extra cost to you. It keeps these tools free. We only point to items we'd put in our own kit, always with a Basic option.
No. We were founded in Oakland and are CERT-trained through Oakland and Albany, but preparedness is universal. The builder, planners, and guidance work for any household, anywhere.
Pick one thing. Water is almost always the right first step. Come back next week and add one more. Prepared, not scared — it's a habit you build, not a bill you pay all at once.
Reach out anytime — we’re happy to help you get started.
